With Upheal’s pay-per-session model, you only pay for the sessions you hold. There’s no flat monthly fee, and it’s always capped at $69/month, so you’re never surprised.
How much does it cost?
Sessions are $1 each, capped at $69/month for individual providers. If you work in a group practice, the cap applies per provider. There’s no minimum spend, so quiet months cost less.
What counts as a session?
A session is counted when you meet with a client and generate a note using any of Upheal’s methods. Upheal also cross-references your calendar and payment records to keep billing accurate.
A few things to know:
If you use Upheal Telehealth, the call counts as a session even if you don’t generate an AI note, because your per-session charge covers scheduling, secure payments, and the AI Assistant, not just the note.
If a client doesn’t show and you remove the appointment from your calendar, you won’t be charged.
If AI note processing fails, you won’t be charged.
If you import completed sessions from another EHR, those won’t count as new sessions.
When will I be charged?
Billing follows calendar months. You’ll be charged on the first of the month for all sessions from the previous month. For example, sessions held in April will appear on your invoice on May 1st.
You can check your current spend at any time in Settings > Plan and billing.
Are there any other fees?
The $1/session price covers your note and full access to all of Upheal’s features. The only additional fees are:
Online payments via Stripe: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
Insurance billing: When we introduce insurance billing, separate fees will also apply to these transactions.
You won’t be charged sales tax on your subscription.
How do I get a refund for a session?
Upheal automatically handles most cases. Canceled appointments, no-shows removed from your calendar, and failed note processing are all detected and not charged.
If we miss something, like a canceled appointment still on your calendar or a note that didn’t meet your needs, reach out to Support and we’ll issue a credit to your invoice.
How does the free trial work?
You get a 30-day full trial with access to all clinical and practice features, no credit card required. If you subscribe to a paid plan during your trial, you won’t be charged for sessions held during your remaining trial days.
If Upheal isn’t the right fit, contact Support within 30 days of subscribing and we’ll refund your payment or cancel pending charges.
After your trial ends, you can continue on the Free plan at no cost, with access to all your notes and records.
Can I pause or cancel?
Since you only pay for what you use, there’s no need to pause. You can cancel at any time and come back whenever you’re ready. Your notes and records stay accessible on the Free plan while you’re away.
What happens if I have an outstanding balance?
If your balance isn’t paid past the grace period, you’ll still be able to view your records, but you won’t be able to use Upheal’s features or switch to the Free plan until the balance is cleared.
Can multiple providers share an account?
No. Each provider needs their own Upheal account. Sharing an account is a breach of our Terms of Service, and Upheal reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that do so.
For group practices, the $69/month cap applies per provider.
I’m on an older plan. What do I need to do?
We’ll contact you about switching to the new pricing system. When you’re ready, reach out to Support to make the switch.
Switching from a monthly plan: pay-per-session starts once your current billing period ends.
Switching from an annual plan: we’ll apply a prorated credit to your account, which will be drawn down against per-session charges until it runs out.
On the Starter plan: you can stay on it with limited features, or contact Support to switch.
