💳 Billing updates made easy

No more chasing invoices by email! We’ve updated the billing section of your account so you can easily access payment history. Plus, it’s now super easy to update billing details and change your payment method. We’ll be adding more billing management options soon, so watch this space!

✂️ Fine-tuning transcripts

Transcript reviewing is more powerful than ever. Now, rather than just swapping speakers, you can split, merge, and reassign individual statements to the person who said them. If all doesn’t go to plan, you can always reset.

📝 Post-session summaries for clients

Remember, you can also quickly generate a session summary from your transcript to share with clients. It can help them keep on top of their progress with easy-to-read sections for Summary, Techniques, Homework, and Plans.

Introducing a highly-requested feature that can save you time and enhance your practice: Post-session summaries to share with your clients! 🎉 Based on your sessions, our AI will generate brief, easy-to-read notes to help your clients stay mindful of their progress.

How do I get a post-session summary? 📝

1. Go to the new Client note tab in a progress note, and click Generate.
2. You can make changes to the summary and even use our ✨ Smart edit feature.
3. Copy and paste the summary or download it as a PDF, and email it to your client. Soon, you’ll be able to send it directly from the Upheal app.

Post-session summaries are included in our Premium and Unlimited subscription plans.

⭐ What’s new?

You might notice that the audio recording tool has gotten a fresh look, and the Upheal web app and iOS app now match.

Changes to keep in mind:

• Click to start. Recording no longer starts automatically when you click Record audio on your dashboard — Make sure to click Start recording.

• Sound monitoring. Now, you can make sure your microphone is picking up sound with a more prominent sound level meter.

• Session settings. Quickly change settings such as note type during or after recording.

Remember, audio recording works like a microphone — It captures sound from its surroundings, not sound made by the device it’s being run on. That’s why it’s perfect for in-person sessions.

👥 Tips for in-person sessions

• Place the recording device close to you and your client. Remember to speak up!

• Keep Upheal open and in the foreground on your device.

• Make sure you don’t have any headphones connected.

• If you have an iPhone or iPad, try our iOS app.

💻 Tips for online sessions and phone calls

If you use audio recording to capture phone calls or online sessions:

• Hold the session on one device, and run the audio recorder on a second device.

• Don’t use headphones. The recorder needs to hear both people talking. Make phone calls on speaker.

• If you’re holding a session in an EHR or other calling platform, we recommend using our browser extension, which is designed specifically for capturing online calls held on any platform on the same device.

📝 Better SOAP notes

We’ve updated our SOAP notes to improve:

• Content and structure: Your SOAP notes now feature greater detail, and we’ve refined what’s included in each section.

• Objective section: We’ve shifted this section’s writing style to passive voice for better objectivity.

• Interventions: Interventions will now be more specific to your individual treatment, rather than generalized by a treatment style, and include the client’s response.

For those of you who manually upload your own recordings, you can now upload file after file without having to wait for the previous one to complete.

💫 Streamlined options

We’re providing three straightforward ways to obtain client consent for data processing:

• Send an email directly through Upheal, and your clients can agree online.

• Download our template and send or give it to your clients for them to sign.

• Add our provided statements to your own existing consent documents.

While client consent is still needed to comply with data privacy laws, we’re no longer requiring you to confirm collection before holding a session. And of course, you’re still free to manage consent entirely on your own.

iOS Upheal Recorder app 📱

Recording in-person sessions is now easier than ever with the Upheal Recorder for Apple devices. Audio captured on your phone or tablet goes directly to Upheal, so you can record hassle-free and get your session notes seamlessly. The app even works offline. If you’ve had a hard time with in-browser audio recording, this should help!

New languages (beta) 🗣️

It’s here! You can now hold sessions in Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Mandarin, and Hindi. You don’t need to set anything up — just start your session as usual, and the language will be automatically detected. Upheal will produce notes in English and a transcript in the language spoken. See our support page for details.

Now, you can send us direct feedback about session notes. The more often you tell us what’s working for you and what’s not, the more we can improve. Just look for the thumbs up and thumbs down icons in your notes.

Couples therapy 💑

Just a reminder, we support couples therapy! You can get notes from couples therapy sessions held in person, via uploaded recording, and through our browser extension.

It’s been in the making for a while 👬 – we now support Couples therapy! You will now be able to get pre-drafted notes from your Couples sessions, not just your Individual ones. How exciting is that?

Our solution uses a trans-theoretical approach and can be used by various psychotherapeutic directions for working with couples.

We have three Couples templates you can choose from:

• Upheal for couples
• SOAP for couples
• DAP for couples

Hopefully, this will make our notes even smarter. We can’t wait for you to try this out.

All you have to do is go to your client list and “Add clients”. Then, choose “Couples” instead of “Individual” to add your first couple.

And, it’s available on all our plans!

There’s a new way to integrate with all EHRs and online video-calling tools like SimplePractice or TherapyNotes. Say hi to our new Chrome browser extension!

Now you can get Upheal’s progress notes directly from any online session, whichever platform you use. Just hit record using the Upheal browser extension, and have your sessions automatically turned into progress notes and insights. And yes, you can use headphones! 🎧

Another great thing about this feature is that it makes importing notes to your EHR even more convenient.

It’s not only possible to record your sessions, but it’s also easy to transfer all of your Upheal notes from the extension to your EHR system.

✨ Our official sign-off feature 📝

You can now lock and sign off on beautifully formatted and prepared notes for submission to insurance providers. We can even automatically include your therapy license and NPI. Any changes will also be logged so you’re always covered from a legal point of view.

✨ A compliance header 🧐

Notes now include a header with all the required compliance information, like DOB, address, or CPT codes. There’s more space in the notes editor for you to work in and you can even edit client information from here.

✨ PDF export and copy/paste your notes 📓

Download and export your newly compliant notes or make use of our improved formatting functionality when you use the copy/paste clipboard. Enjoy the added space, bullets, and even callouts!
